It is with the greatest sadness that the Club has heard of the death yesterday of one of our Founder Life Members, Ray Jamieson. Ray has been a vital supporter of the various faces of our Club for MANY years. Being a local Headmaster in Gosforth he firstly supported his two sons, Neil and the late Graeme, at our old ground on the Great North Road. There he established "The Telegraph Club" - so called because Ray and his mates watched all the Gosforth games from their favourite pole on the halfway line! They even had a special tie struck for the "Club". Since advancing years and ill-health had restricted his practical activities at the newly formed GRFC, Ray was more than willing to continue his support from the background - Tucks' linemarker was a gift from Ray for instance! His friendly face will be sadly missed and our condolences go to his wife, Pat, Neil and Myra and daughter Heather and their respective families.
